Evergen Infrastructure Corp has achieved a significant milestone by successfully injecting renewable natural gas (RNG) at its GrowTEC facility in Alberta, Canada, in late June. This achievement followed the completion of gas quality sampling and the connection of the facility to the utility grid. Currently, the facility is producing a daily volume of up to 180 gigajoules of RNG.
Phase 1 of the GrowTEC RNG expansion project has been completed, resulting in an annual production capacity of 80,000 gigajoules of RNG. Looking ahead, Evergen plans to further develop the facility by adding preprocessing and depackaging equipment. These additions will expand the range of organic waste that the facility can process and increase the RNG capacity. Part of this expansion includes the incorporation of a third anaerobic digestor.
Anticipated for later this year, Phase 2 of the project aims to raise the production capacity to 140,000 gigajoules of RNG annually. Feasibility work is currently underway, and a final investment decision is in the works.

Located on the Perry family farm near Lethbridge, GrowTEC represents a multifaceted bioenergy venture that combines sustainable agriculture with renewable energy. The facility has been converting biodegradable waste into biogas and generating renewable power for over eight years.
Evergen acquired a 67% interest in GrowTEC in July 2022, leading to fruitful collaboration between the two entities.
